How to choose a phone repair shop in Carolina (and what to ask before leaving your device)
A good repair shop in Carolina gives you the diagnosis and the price before starting, puts the warranty in writing on the invoice, explains which part it will use and has real reviews to back it up. If it can't answer those questions straight, don't leave your device there.

Your phone has your life inside: photos, chats, banking, work. Handing it to just anyone is a risk, and Carolina has plenty of options. This article isn't here to tell you we're the only ones. It's here to give you the questions we'd ask ourselves before leaving a device at a shop, and to answer them straight, the way we do at Fix On Wheels in Plaza Carolina Mall.
1. "Do you check the device before charging me anything?"
A serious shop diagnoses first and charges later. Be wary of anyone who gives you a price without looking at the device, or who charges to "check it" and won't tell you what they found.
How we do it: the diagnostic is free on any device that powers on. If your device won't turn on, the diagnostic has a fee that is fully credited toward your repair. And we always tell you what we found.
2. "Do I get the price before you start?"
This is the most important question. The price has to be clear, tax included, before anyone touches your device. If they say "we'll see when it's done," walk out.
How we do it: we never start a job until you approve the price. The number we give you already includes tax. And yes, that's why we don't publish a price list on the site: the real price depends on the exact model and the type of part, and we'd rather give you the right one on the spot than an estimate that goes up later. You can see everything we repair on our services page.
3. "Is the warranty in writing?"
"It has a warranty" means nothing if it isn't on the invoice with the exact number of days and what it covers. Ask how many days, what's included and what voids it.
How we do it: most repairs come with a 60-day warranty, and your invoice shows the exact warranty for each service. The full table (including what each type of screen covers and what no warranty covers) is published in our store policies. No surprises.
4. "Which part are you going to put in?"
Not all screens or batteries are the same. An honest shop explains the options it has, the difference between them and the warranty each one carries, and lets you choose.
How we do it: we explain the part options for your model and the warranty on each before you decide. If you bring your own part, we install it too, under the conditions published in our terms.
5. "What if the problem is on the board?"
Many shops only swap modules (screen, battery, port). If the problem is inside the board, they'll tell you it's "beyond repair," when what they mean is "I can't repair it." Ask whether they do board-level repair.
How we do it: we have a microsoldering bench for devices that won't turn on, severe water damage, charging IC failures and data recovery. Learn about it in advanced repairs. It's why many customers from Carolina and the metro area come to us after trying somewhere else.
6. "Can I watch you work?"
A shop that works in plain view has nothing to hide. If they ask you to leave the device "and come back tomorrow" for a screen replacement, ask why.
How we do it: we're an open kiosk on the second level of Plaza Carolina Mall. Express repairs (screen, battery, charging port) are done in under 1 hour, and you can wait or keep shopping. Before we hand the device back, we test it with you.
7. "What do other customers say?"
Real reviews, on Google, with names and dates, say more than any ad. Look for volume (not ten reviews from relatives) and look at how the shop responds to the bad ones.
How we do it: 4.9★ on Google with over 870 reviews from customers in Carolina, San Juan, Trujillo Alto and across the metro area. You can read them all before coming in. And you can meet the team that will handle your device on our about page.
The short list, to keep on your phone
Before leaving your device at any shop, confirm that they:
- Diagnose before charging.
- Give you the price, tax included, before starting.
- Put the warranty in writing on the invoice, with exact days.
- Explain which part they're installing.
- Do board-level repair, or honestly tell you they don't.
- Work in plain view and test the device with you.
- Have real reviews, and lots of them.
If a shop checks all seven, leave your device with peace of mind. We check all seven, and we invite you to see for yourself.
